ExamExcel 2025 Mock Tests FAQs
Eligibility & Booking
1. Who can take the mock test?
Our mock tests are designed for children in Year 5 who will be sitting their 11+ entrance exams in autumn 2025. Children in other year groups are not eligible this year.
2. How do I book a place for my child?
Registration must be completed through our online booking system. A confirmation will be sent once payment has been processed successfully.
3. Can I book a test for someone else’s child?
No. Please only use your own contact details when booking, as all updates and information will be sent to that email address.
4. Can I book more than one session?
No. The same test will be given for each available session on the same date.
Test Details
5. What is the format of the mock tests and what do they include?
Both the Maths and English mock tests will be multiple choice format and will be based on the KS2 curriculum which can be widely available online. The papers do not replicate the exact format of any particular school as the format can change at any given time.
6. How long are the mock tests?
Each test will last approximately 45 minutes with a break between the English and Maths test. Your child will be given the opportunity to visit the toilet before the test begins and during the break.
7. What should my child bring with them to the test?
Please make sure your child brings:

A printed copy of their exam ticket showing their candidate number, session time and name. Please note, if your child turns up to the wrong session, we will not be able to accommodate your child.

2 B or HB pencils.

A pencil sharpener.

A soft rubber/eraser

A ruler.

A transparent (clear) water bottle - Please remove any labels from the bottles. No other drinks are allowed into the exam hall.

No food will be permitted in the exam hall.
8. Will my child be given any breaks?
Yes. Your child will be given the opportunity to visit the toilet before they enter the examination hall and in between the English and Maths mocks. Please note, your child is allowed to visit the toilet during the test however, the time lost will not be added on - we strongly recommend they do not do this unless necessary.
Special Requirements & Medical Needs
9. What if my child needs extra support or has a medical condition?
Please notify us in advance if your child requires any special arrangements. Supporting documents may be requested to assess what adjustments can be made.
If your child needs to carry any prescribed medicine into the examination hall, you must contact us using the 'Contact Us' form and let us know at least a week prior. If you do not let us know within this time frame, your child may not be allowed to sit the test as appropriate arrangements will need to be administered.
10. Is my child eligible for a free mock test?
Free places are available for families facing financial difficulty. If your child is entitled to means tested free school meals, you can apply for a free credit to be used when booking a mock test session. Please write to us in confidence via our 'Contact Us' form.
Cancellations, Illness & Refunds
11. Can I cancel my booking?
Refunds may be possible if we are able to reallocate your child’s place. An administration fee of £20 will apply. Cancellations made within 10 days of the test date are not eligible for a refund.
12. What if my child is unwell on the day?
Please don’t bring your child if they have any signs of fever, vomiting or COVID within 24 hours of the mock test. If you can provide us with a doctor’s note, we may offer you a spot in a later session if available, but we cannot guarantee a refund.
13. What happens if we arrive late?
Late arrivals cannot be admitted once the test has started. We are unable to issue refunds for missed sessions.
14. Can I change the test date after booking?
Bookings are non-transferable. To attend on another date, you’ll need to make a new booking and cancel the original if it meets the refund conditions. An admin fee will still apply.
15. Can I transfer my child’s place to someone else?
No. For safeguarding and administration reasons, bookings cannot be reassigned to a different child.
Arrival, Parking & Collection
16. When should we arrive on the day?
We recommend arriving 30 minutes before your child’s scheduled session to allow time for check-in and instructions.
17. What should my child wear on the day?
Your child should be dressed appropriately for the weather and should wear something comfortable.
18. Are parents allowed in the examination hall?
No. For safeguarding purposes, parents are not allowed in the examination hall and should drop off their child outside the hall at the entrance desk.
19. How will I collect my child after the test?
Children will only be released to a responsible adult listed at registration. Final instructions will explain where to wait for collection.
20. Is parking available?
There is limited parking on site however, free parking is available on nearby roads. We recommend travelling by public transport to avoid any issues with parking. Your child should arrive in a stress free manner. If you do travel by car, we recommend parking approximately 10 minutes walk; the fresh air and exercise will be beneficial for your child ahead of the examination.
Results, Feedback & Other
21. When will we receive the results?
Results are usually available within 7 days of the test session. You’ll be notified by email.
22. Will we get the test papers or answer sheets?
No. We do not release test materials due to copyright and exam security reasons.
23. Do mock test results indicate how my child will do in real exams?
Mock test performance is one useful measure. However, it should be considered alongside school reports, teacher insights, and your child’s ongoing progress.
24. Does my child automatically gain a place in a selective school if they pass the mock exam?
No. Please note, this is a mock test and does not contribute to your child's official score in their 11+ exams. Your child will still need to undertake the exams.
25. Will my data be shared with other companies?
No. Your personal data is only used to manage your booking and deliver services. It will never be sold or passed on to third parties and will be deleted shortly after the results are issued.
